Goodenough College was created as an educational charity – Charity number 312894 (England Wales) and SC039173 (Scotland) with the mission: “To create a stimulating , inclusive and mutually supportive, residential community in the heart of London where outstanding postgraduate students exchange ideas, openly debate values and form lasting friendships.”
The College is governed by a Board of Trustees (Governing Fellows) which provides strategic oversight, governance and accountability for the College’s activities. Find out more on the College’s website.
Operational management of the College is delegated by the Trustees to the College Director, The Honourable Alice Walpole OBE.
Management structure
- Board of Trustees: As the governing body of the College the Board holds ultimate responsibility for the governance and strategic direction of the College and for ensuring that the charity upholds it ethos and values and delivers its objectives.
- Finance Committee: A subcommittee of the Board responsible for monitoring financial performance to ensure long-term sustainability.
- College Director: The College Director is responsible for operational management of the College, supported by a senior leadership team (the Executive Committee). The College Director and the senior leadership team (the Executive Committee) attend formal Board and Committee meetings
- Executive Committee: The College’s Directors handle the day-to-day running of the College.
- Members' Council: The College’s Members Council is made up of elected volunteer Members. The Council represents and advocates on behalf of all Members to the College management and Board.
