Port Talk — Australian educator Susan Ferguson-Brown in conversation on life, leadership and meaning

Churchill Room

Susan Ferguson-Brown is a distinguished teacher of economics and theory of knowledge for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program from Melbourne, Australia. Affectionately known as Fergie-B, Susan grew up in coal mining country in the Latrobe Valley, served in the Royal Australian Air Force, has had successful careers in compliance and financial services, sat numerous silent meditation retreats, is one of the lead examiners for IB Economics and is a much-loved teacher at St Leonard's College.

In conversation with one of her ex-students, Goodenough member Luke Thorburn, Susan will talk about her rich and varied life experiences, sexism and discrimination in Australian society, the qualities and tensions of effective leadership, the integrity of quitting, and why she takes great joy in being — in her own words — a "nobody".
